When installing a NeverFreeze snow melting system, you will need a control group to operate the system. ThermoSoft offers several brands to accommodate a variety of applications. The PYROBOX line includes controls designed for smaller residential applications to ones for larger commercial and industrial applications.

Systems are available with power ratings starting at 30 Amps single phase all the way up to 600 Amp three phase. Options include single zone systems up to five zone systems for expanded coverage. All can be operated either in manual mode (activating and deactivating the system at predetermined time intervals) or in automatic mode (activating and deactivating by weather conditions). Most of the control systems require the purchase of separate sensors to detect the temperature and presence of snow and ice.

PYROSELF

This is an “all in one” snow sensor and controller designed for residential use. This system offers a quick plug and play installation and can be mounted on the side of your home or roof. The systems setpoint, ambient lower limit, RH sensitivity and thresholds can be adjusted using a remote control or an optional indoor wall mount control interface. When receiving a signal from the system’s built-in aerial snow sensor, the heating elements are energized. You have the option to operate up to two zones simultaneously or run in staggering mode to accommodate a larger snow melting area.

Electrical Information:

Supply: 110-240VAC
Load switching:  2 x 24A
Max. Ratings Voltage: 240 VAC. Current: 48 Amps

PYROBOX | ThermoSoft

PYROBOX1

This control and power distribution box offers smart and easy control for heating small residential spaces with a single zone. This unit requires the purchase of separate sensors to activate the heating system. Up to 4 sensors (aerial, ground, & gutter mount) can be input in this unit simultaneously for precise weather detection. The system has built-in Ground Fault Equipment Protection (GFEP) for added safety. You can adjust the temperature setpoint, ambient lower limits, ground upper temperature limits and RH sensitivities through the built in controller with LCD display on the unit.

Electrical Information:

PYROBOX1-120 – 1 contactor (2p, 30A) output to heaters at 120VAC
PYROBOX1-240 – 1 contactor (2p, 30A) output to heaters at 240VAC

PYROBOX | ThermoSoft

PYROBOX3/19

This control and power distribution box offers all the same basic control features as the PYROBOX1 but can alternate power between 4 zones allowing you to heat a larger area. You can also set critical zones to heat whenever it’s snowing while other zones stagger. If you need additional power, several units can be connected for a master/slave relationship. It is also equipped with a communication interface to Building Management System (B.M.S. or B.A.S.) and Smart-Home applications using RS485 connection by BACNET and MODBUS protocols. Input up to 4 aerial, 2 ground, and 2 gutter sensors for maximum weather detection. The system includes a built-in Ground Fault Interrupter and GFEP adjustable time delay to protect against nuisance tripping.

Electrical Information:

Four Satellite Contactors- 240 VACS, 30 A Max (Resistive), 50/60 Hz, 2-Poles

PYROBOX | ThermoSoft

PYROBOX3C/19

This control and power distribution box offers all the same features as the PYROBOX3/19 but can alternate power between 3 zones and has an increased capacity up to 300 Amps. The unit’s large capacity and variety of voltage outputs make it a perfect solution for commercial and industrial applications.

Electrical Information:

One Satellite Contactor-277VAC, 30A Max (Resistive), 50/60Hz, 1-Pole 600VAC / 50A per pole
Two Satellite Contactors-600VACS, 50A Max, (Resistive), 50/60Hz, 3-Poles

PYROBOX | ThermoSoft

PYROBOX5/19

This controller offers all the same features as the PYROBOX3/19 & the PYROBOX3C/19 but can alternate power between 5 zones and supply up to an impressive 600 Amps. The units expanded capacity and variety of voltage outputs make it a perfect solution for larger commercial and industrial applications.

Electrical Information:

One Satellite Contactor- 277VAC, 30A Max (Resistive), 50/60 Hz, 1-Pole, 600VAC / 50A per pole
Four Satellite Contactors- 600VACS, 50A Max (Resistive), 50/60 Hz, 3-Poles

SENSORS

Each control system (except for the PYROSELF), requires the purchase of separate sensors to operate. The sensors report the temperature or presence of snow and ice to the controller. Each sensor comes with a 30-foot cable for long range connection to the controller.

PYROSENSE | ThermoSoft

PYROSENSE

This is an aerial sensor that is typically mounted on the side of a home or building with a metal holding arm. Its plastic igloo shaped design prevents snow accumulation around the sensing area. The Anti-Nesting spikes on the unit keep birds from landing on the sensor.

PYROSENSE-GROUND | ThermoSoft

PYROSENSE-GROUND

This sensor is designed to be installed in pavement. Its non-rusting metallic flat shaped design assures reliable snow & ice detection while preventing snow accumulation around the sensing area using the internal heaters.

PYROSENSE-GUTTER | ThermoSoft

PYROSENSE-GUTTER

As the name implies, this sensor is designed for gutter installations. Its non-rusting metallic cylindrical shape prevents snow accumulation around the sensing area.
